I joined the medical staff at Fox Chase Cancer Center in 2002. I like to refer to interventional radiology as the "specialty of the future" because of its minimally-invasive nature.
As an interventional radiologist, I have the ability to help lots of patients, especially those with cancer, by performing less invasive therapies than have been available in the past. Cancer patients often have other medical issues to deal with, so we may be able to ease the recovery process compared to traditional open surgery for appropriate cases. These procedures include both diagnosis and treatment.
