Nicos Nicolaou, MD

After my fellowship at Fox Chase, I worked as a radiation oncologist at the British Columbia Cancer Agency in 1996, where I gained extensive experience in treating patients with many types of cancer. Then, in 1997, I joined the Fox Chase staff.
In my practice, I treat patients with lymphomas, head and neck, lung, skin and breast cancers. I feel it is important to spend adequate time with each patient and listen to their concerns. Many of my patients are anxious about starting radiation treatment, so I try to ease their mind by explaining each step of the process.
At Fox Chase, we can offer our patients access to the latest technology, including computerized three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D CRT), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) as indicated for effective, accurate radiation targeting of malignant disease. In addition, I developed a total body irradiation (TBI) program that is an integral component of bone-marrow transplant.
Each of these complex treatment techniques improves patient outcomes and spare normal tissues from the irradiation fields as much as possible, with a decrease in side effects. This, in turn, provides a more comfortable experience for my patients.
