Src64 is activated where follicle cells and germ cells contact during follicle formation.  We stained with phalloidin to visualize actin structures during early oogenesis (left panels) and an activation-specific Src64 antibody (right panels).  No activation-specific staining is seen in mutants that lack Src64 expression (bottom panels).  In wild-type ovaries, Src64 is activated on the surface of the germ cells, where they contact migrating follicle cells.  Additionally, Src64 is highly activated at the actin-rich ring canals that connect the 16 cells within an individual germline cyst.  (O’Reilly, et al.  Development 2006).
